A Poelle bag is made by hand to be carried every day, for years. Here is how to keep its form.
Care by material
Care, by material
Smooth leather, suede, patent and knit each ask for something different. A few minutes after wearing is all it takes.
[01.01] Smooth leather
Wipe, don't wash.
Wipe with a soft, dry cloth after wearing. Now and then, a thin layer of colourless cream for smooth leather keeps it supple. Test it first on a hidden spot.

[01.02] Suede
Brush, always dry.
Use a soft suede brush, moved in one direction. Before the first wear, a water-repellent spray for suede helps. If it gets wet, let it dry on its own at room temperature, then brush.
Avoid: Water · creams · rubbing a stain
[01.03] Patent leather
Soft cloth, no heat.
A soft, slightly damp cloth keeps the shine; wipe it dry afterwards. Store it apart from other bags and printed paper: colour can pass onto a glossy surface.
Avoid: Heat · sharp objects · dark textiles
[01.04] Knit
Never wash.
The knit bag is not washable: never wash or soak it. Treat it like a fine fabric: lift lint with a soft brush; for a small mark, clean gently with a barely damp cloth, then let it dry flat. Store it filled with tissue.
Avoid: Washing · soaking · wringing · hanging for long
[01.05] Metal hardware
Dry and apart.
Wipe metal parts with a soft, dry cloth. Keep perfume, hand cream and sanitiser away from them, and carry keys in a separate pocket.
Avoid: Moisture · chemicals · keys
Storage
Rest between wears
- 01 Fill it with tissue paper so the body keeps its shape.
- 02 Keep it in its dust bag, standing upright, never stacked.
- 03 Away from direct sun, radiators and damp rooms.
- 04 Don't leave it hanging by the handles for long.
- 05 Let suede and knit breathe: no plastic bags.
